There is much debate at present surrounding how we professionalise and whether or not coaching should be considered a profession.
We believe that in the recent past there has been momentum at Comensa to take us down a single path to coach credentialing. We advocate a route that allows for more choice and, we believe, has a more appropriate focus that reflects the true rigour of excellent coaching. We advocate a universal approach at a foundational skills level with Comensa acting as umbrella body for a more diverse set of approaches to professionalism emerging from this common ground.
At the Comensa AGM on 12 May 2011 Matt Shelley stood for Vice President of Comensa. Matt was elected by 83 votes to 22. Many thanks to those who sent in their proxies. The Vice President's role is to facilitate and co-ordinate the input of the various Portfolio Committees and Special Interest Groups - feeding back to Comensa National EXCO and communicating strategic direction from EXCO to the committees. In this role Matt would like to foster an inclusiive and participative learning culture at Comensa - one that includes all stakeholders (members, the public, corporate, other professions, international bodies etc)
